- ➤ Students at Arnold Elementary took part in a color run on Tuesday afternoon organized by the Be the Change Club to promote kindness and respect—school counselor Emma George said it was the first run in five years that helped students learn useful skills. KOLN

- ➤ University of Nebraska–Lincoln engineer Lucia Fernandez-Ballester received a $739,205 NSF CAREER award to study how micro- and nanoplastics are released from polymer materials. The five-year project will examine polymer processing to create safer materials—while also including outreach to elementary school teachers. KOLN

- ➤ EPA Region 7 is awarding a $1.2 million Brownfields Assessment Grant to the Southeast Nebraska Development District—funding environmental site assessments, cleanup planning and community engagement in Lincoln, Crete, Fairbury, and Nebraska City. - ➤ Lincoln Police wages will increase under a contract that raises a new officer's hourly pay to $35.85 and boosts salaries 17% over three years, pending a City Council vote on Oct. 6. The contract has an effective date of Aug. 14—if approved, officers will be back-paid for hours worked since then. KFOR
- ➤ Eleven new dispatchers graduated on Tuesday from the Lincoln Police Department’s emergency communications center after a seven-week training that taught nearly 30 call types, CPR, Narcan, and tourniquet use — marking the largest recruitment class in the department’s history. More than 100 people attended the ceremony, and officials said the new class will help boost public safety as further training begins on Oct. 9. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Frustrated Nebraskans testified at a Lincoln Medical Cannabis Commission hearing on Tuesday that the resignations of two commissioners have delayed review of license applications—leaving patients without relief.
