- ➤ Lincoln Littles held its annual child care summit yesterday and noted that in 2024 it provided more than $541,000 in tuition assistance for 289 children. The organization warned that if the federal Title 20 subsidy is eliminated, up to 2,500 families could lose child care services + more donations will be needed to bridge the gap. KOLN
- ➤ Project Connect Lincoln held a one-day event at Pinnacle Bank Arena today—bringing nearly 100 organizations together to offer essential services to people at risk of homelessness. Volunteers and navigators helped each participant connect with local resources. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Lincoln Electric System is suing WCHE LLC for allegedly damaging its equipment at sites near 70th Street and Saltillo Road, Southwest 36th and West A streets, and Southwest 24th and West A streets—incidents that caused power outages and led to estimated damages of $96,161.87 filed in Lancaster County District Court. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UNL Libraries is expanding access to low-cost course materials so students pay less for textbooks. The program reviewed syllabi in 27 courses this semester and saved students over $3 million — it will expand to all courses to further reduce costs. Nebraska Now
- ➤ This fall, UNL reached its all-time high six-year graduation rate of 67%—a 3% increase from last year. Husker graduates also earned their degrees faster, reflecting the university's renewed focus on improving student support and advising. KOLN
- ➤ Fourth graders from Adams Elementary planted trees at Folsom Park on Wednesday in a joint effort by Lincoln Parks and Recreation, Lincoln Public Schools, and the Arbor Day Foundation—teaching them about environmental stewardship and tree care. - ➤ On Tuesday, the three remaining members of the Medical Cannabis Commission approved licenses for marijuana cultivators in Omaha and Raymond six days after the Oct. 1 deadline — two applications were denied due to widely varying scores. The denied applicants will have 10 days to appeal as the commission plans to review two more applications and hold a public hearing on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. KNOP

- ➤ The Nebraska swimming and diving teams will face the Minnesota Gophers and South Dakota Coyotes on Friday, Oct. 10 in Minneapolis and compete against the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, Oct. 11 in Ames. - ➤ Nebraska Athletics announced that John Cook Arena will begin a full reseating and parking process on June 8 ahead of the 2026 volleyball season—renovations will change bleachers to chairback seats and remove standing room to boost capacity over 10,000. Season ticket holders may upgrade their membership starting in December, with fans notified in April and the process expected to raise about $8 million in revenue. KNOP
