- ➤ Beloved puppy Zephyr returned to Capital Humane Society on Tuesday after spending a week and a half at Kansas State University for a blood transfusion; once found in a pumpkin patch and severely malnourished, she is now in foster care at Matt Madcharo’s home. Her recovery is noticeable — community members cheered her return — and she is expected to be adoptable in about a month or two. Nebraska Now

- ➤ Trade-A-Tape Comic Center near Ninth and N streets is marking its 50th anniversary this year—celebrating five decades of serving Lincoln's comic fans. This milestone shows the store's unique role in the local comic culture. Lincoln Journal Star

- ➤ On Tuesday, the Nebraska International Port of the Plains board of directors discussed key updates including new insurance coverage, finalized rail agreements, and a solid new partner that will improve operations and boost regional economic benefits. - ➤ The University of Nebraska-Lincoln extension urged hay producers to plan early for winter by testing hay bales for quality and managing inventory (bales should be stored three feet apart) to avoid potential losses as market prices shift closer to winter. - ➤ Monarch butterflies are seen feeding while they get ready to fly to Mexico, thanks to pollinator-friendly plants on campus and in local gardens. The Nebraska Pollinator Habitat Certification program works with residents and businesses to plant milkweed — a vital food for caterpillars — to help boost monarch numbers. KOLN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday evening, 14 citizens drove police vehicles during a Citizen’s Academy EVOC course at the Lincoln Airport tarmac to learn real police training. The 10‐week program—featuring exercises in speed, evasive driving and backing up—ended on Tuesday and the participants will graduate next week. KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln Parks and Recreation announced that the skatepark in Peter Pan Park — near 32nd and W will close for repairs today and reopen in late November. Community members can use the skatepark at Tierra Park during the repairs. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Nebraska Public Power District held an open house Tuesday in Hallam to share plans for its Princeton Road Station (to run on natural gas with diesel backup) that will be built on its land next to Sheldon Station. Construction will begin in 2026 and the station is expected to add 694 megawatts and create 32 jobs when it comes online by summer 2029. KOLN

- ➤ State girls golf final team results were released for Class C and Class A. Minden won Class C with a score of 649 — Omaha Marian led Class A with 636 while top medal winners scored between 143 and 174 in Class C and between 149 and 163 in Class A. KNOP
- ➤ Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola posted on Instagram after Tuesday’s practice that head coach Matt Rhule will stay with the team amid Penn State speculation—he said 'He ain’t going nowhere' to stress Rhule’s focus on winning. KOLN
- ➤ Nebraska women’s soccer defender Lauryn Anglim earned the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week honor Tuesday after leading the team to shutout wins against Purdue on Thursday and Maryland on Sunday—she scored the game-winning penalty to become the first Husker defensive player recognized since 2018.
