- ➤ Arbor Axe House took over the old axe throwing space near South Antelope Valley Parkway and N Street in downtown Lincoln and opened Tuesday afternoon as a new venue where people can throw axes, play games, and enjoy drinks — CEO Connor Pedersen said the venue will host league nights on Tuesdays as part of the World Axe Throwing League and offer discounts and events during its operating hours from Tuesday to Sunday. - ➤ West Lincoln Elementary School principal Scott Schwartz was honored Tuesday in a surprise celebration for setting Lincoln Public Schools’ record as the longest-serving principal at one building after 21 years—he has been with the school for 23 years and was greeted with cheers, heartfelt notes, and cake from students, staff, and parents. - ➤ At Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Tuesday, UNL professors and students held a town hall meeting to discuss proposed $27.5 million budget cuts that may eliminate six academic programs; nearly 40 community members gathered to urge local support—hoping to save key programs before the cuts are finalized in six weeks. - ➤ The University of Nebraska—Lincoln added 21 new weather stations to the Nebraska Mesonet network, increasing the total to 94 to help farmers and state agencies plan for water and disaster needs.
