ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Farmers in Hamilton County use advanced machines — with satellite navigation and cameras — to harvest corn and soybeans before frost arrives; they will work six days a week until the fields are cleared by Halloween. KNOP
- ➤ The Nebraska Rural Poll shows that 53% of rural Nebraskans say they are better off than five years ago—up from 36% last year—and only 16% say they feel worse. Younger adults and those with higher incomes are more optimistic about their job and financial security and will discuss these trends during a webinar on Oct. 30. Fox Nebraska

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Community members gathered at Culler Middle School last Thursday night during the Plan Forward Open House to share concerns about Lincoln roads and traffic at 27th and Rokeby, where daily traffic has grown nearly 400% since 2015 with over 12,000 cars and three crashes, including one fatal incident last month. Resident Lyle Hervert asked for stop signs + slower speeds while city officials said they plan to review and improve conditions in the future. Nebraska Now
- ➤ The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department announced that portions of northbound 13th Street, 40th Street, and Randolph Street will close on Monday for project work; 13th Street will be closed for streetscape and LES utility work until mid-December while 40th and Randolph Streets close for water main replacement until the end of November—local access will be maintained. - ➤ Following an inspection on Monday, the Nebraska Public Service Commission ordered Roberts Seed Inc. to immediately cease all operations after it was found lacking valid licenses for grain dealing and warehousing. The commission is filing a formal complaint while warning producers that the unlicensed firm is not authorized to handle commodities during harvest season. KNOP
