- ➤ Local shops on Prescott Avenue hosted an early trick-or-treat event ahead of Halloween, with 11 stores decorating inside and out to welcome costumed children. Hundreds of trick-or-treaters visited the shops and owner Alicia Reisinger said the event began with a text and email three weeks ago—bringing a special community spirit to the area. KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln neighbors will hand out kid-friendly foods like mac and cheese, protein bars, and chips on Halloween to help those facing food insecurity amid concerns over reduced SNAP support if the government shutdown continues — community members say small gestures will keep trick-or-treaters fed and maintain dignity in tough times. - ➤ Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird issued a statement on Saturday about recent domestic violence incidents in Lincoln—which have resulted in four fatalities—and urged residents to use local support resources such as Voices of Hope – hotline 402-475-7273 – and Friendship Home – hotline 402-437-9302 – to help prevent further tragedies.
