- ➤ Kristi Cadenbach drives her Mama Van across Lincoln during the government shutdown to collect donations for families and military groups—she began her All About Mama project after a 2024 tornado and is now partnering with local businesses like Sower Books. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Muchachos in downtown Lincoln is now serving as a food pantry to help neighbors affected by the SNAP pause—owner Nick Maestas said people can walk in to grab free groceries and a no-cost Snapadilla. The restaurant will keep the pantry open until the community no longer needs this support. KOLN
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ At Home announced it restructured after bankruptcy and kept its Nebraska stores open—local customers can still shop at the retailer. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ Lincoln’s Nebraska Innovation Studio is accepting applications from creative individuals for a fellowship that offers five fellows $2,500 in material credits and $1,500 for lab help — the program also pairs fellows with mentors and expects more applicants than last year’s 40. - ➤ Lincoln Public Schools opened two new preschool classrooms this fall (including one at Arnold) to help meet demand, but hundreds of children still wait for a spot among the 81 preschools available. Lincoln Journal Star
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln will host the 2025 NSAA State Volleyball Championships next week with teams set to start on November 5 and champions to be crowned on November 8 — main matches will be at John Cook Arena while quarterfinals and third-place games are held at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the Bob Devaney Sports Center, and Lincoln East High School. - ➤ Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule said Dylan Raiola, the sophomore quarterback, suffered a lower-leg injury during the USC game — he will miss the rest of the season. KNOP
