- ➤ The Ukrainian community held an appreciation dinner in Lincoln to thank local Nebraskans for their help amid the ongoing war with Russia by serving food from Ukraine. Several state leaders, including former state senator Tom Brewer, attended and stressed the need for resources to support Ukrainian orphanages. KOLN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln police said that Dr. Katherine Gogela, a 42-year-old from Lincoln Pediatric Group, died after being struck by an SUV at 2:36 p.m. Friday near O Street, South 84th Street, and South Cherrywood Drive—investigators report that the 19-year-old driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the inquiry. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Future teachers are joining a free virtual tutoring program that will provide help to all K-12 public, private+ and homeschooled students in Nebraska. The program will support students statewide with extra academic resources. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ UNL faculty cast a non-binding vote of no confidence against Bennett that marked the first such vote in the university’s 156-year history—faculty said the vote was one of the strongest statements they could make. Lincoln Journal Star

- ➤ On Sunday, more than 9,000 runners took part in the 12th annual Good Life Halfsy through Lincoln. John Cleary won the men's race—finishing in one hour, seven minutes and 58 seconds, while Rita Moore won the women's race with a time of one hour, sixteen minutes and 41 seconds. KOLN
- ➤ The Nebraska football team reached seven wins for the first time since 2016 after defeating UCLA 28 to 21 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena Saturday night—TJ Lateef completed 13 of 15 passes for three touchdowns while Emmett Johnson recorded 100 yards in both rushing and receiving.
