CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska Athletics announced Monday that country singer Zach Bryan will perform at Memorial Stadium next year on April 25 with openers Kings of Leon and J.R. Carroll. Ticket presale will begin on Dec. 3 at noon with public sales starting on Dec. 5. KNOP
- ➤ On Monday, Zach Bryan announced his biggest international tour yet — With Heaven On Tour — which begins on March 7 in St. Louis and includes a Lincoln show at Memorial Stadium on April 25 with Kings of Leon headlining and J.R. Carroll supporting. The tour will also visit major cities in Europe and other U.S. markets after his record-setting fall concerts. Nebraska Now

- ➤ College of Journalism and Mass Communication Dean Shari Veil announced she will step down on Dec. 23 — she will become provost at North Dakota State University. She joined UNL in July 2020 from the University of Kentucky and said her decision to leave is deeply emotional for her and the community. KOLN

- ➤ Legislation introduced by Rep. Mike Flood will name a Lincoln post office after WWII Navy hero Dixie Kiefer—nicknamed 'Mr. Indestructible'—to honor his service. Lincoln Journal Star
- ➤ Lincoln Fire and Rescue urged residents to be extra cautious as Thanksgiving Day brings a 388% higher chance of home cooking fires due to extra kitchen activity. They advised checking working smoke detectors—keeping a lid near the stove for grease fires and avoiding water on flames—and calling 911 immediately if a fire starts. KOLN

- ➤ The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is honoring caregivers this month for helping loved ones live independently — the state offers a tax credit for care costs and provides respite services and local support programs for caregivers. Fox Nebraska

- ➤ Lincoln grain silos from the 1950s are being demolished near the corner of 33rd Street & Cornhusker Highway to clear the way for new business development. CL Construction has worked for a year on reducing the dangerous structures and will finish lowering them by May before removing the foundations. KOLN

- ➤ Virginia Adriano of Husker volleyball was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after averaging 3 kills per set, 1.5 blocks and four aces in Nebraska sweeps over Iowa and No. 17 Indiana — she will face Penn State on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Center. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Taylor Landfair and Allie Sczech were picked in the fourth round of the Major League Volleyball Draft on Monday. Landfair was the 28th pick for Indy Ignite while Sczech was chosen 29th by Omaha Supernovas—each player brings strong past performances from Nebraska's lineup. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Nebraska's Braden Frager was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after he averaged 18 points and seven rebounds in the Hall of Fame Classic—earning MVP honors and helping the Huskers start 6-0. He will return to the court today against Winthrop at Pinnacle Bank Arena at 7:30 p.m. Nebraska Now
- ➤ Waverly won the Class B state championship with a 42-27 victory over Gretna East on Monday, completing an undefeated season. The win is the team's first state title since 1980 (a historic achievement for the school). KOLN
- ➤ The Nebraska women’s basketball team won 80-57 Monday against Purdue Fort Wayne at Raider Arena in the Emerald Coast Classic. The Huskers, who shot 57 percent compared with the Mastodons’ 39 percent, will play the championship game today at 7:30 p.m. on FloSports. Nebraska Now
