On Thanksgiving Day, People’s City Mission in Lincoln served nearly 900 guests a restaurant-style meal at its temporary Q Street facility where paper menus allowed volunteers to deliver orders directly—helping those in need feel part of the community.

Pastor Tom Barber said the event, made possible by local donations and volunteer support, is one of the mission’s largest traditions.

On Sept. 21, 2024, a Lincoln man survived a near-fatal motorcycle crash when a delivery van turned in front of his Harley Davidson near 33rd Street and Nebraska Parkway—he spent nearly 50 days in the ICU at Bryan Medical Trauma Center, underwent extensive treatment, and now lives with long-term physical limits while reflecting on his gratitude for life.
