BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Corky Canvas announced Tuesday that its Lincoln location will close at the end of the year, with the last public art class scheduled on Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. The business has served local artists for over a decade while its Omaha site continues offering classes.  KOLN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced a strategic partnership with CareerPathway.com to connect students and businesses with real-time career opportunities and strengthen workforce development. The deal includes premium onboarding and a biannual data package (a Nebraska-built solution) to boost member engagement statewide.  Fox Nebraska
  • Nebraska Extension will offer its 2026 Calving College series, holding three online webinars on Jan. 19, Jan. 26, and Feb. 2 (7:30 to 8:45 p.m. CT) plus hands-on workshops in Nebraska and South Dakota from Feb. 9 to 12 for farmers and vets. Registration costs $80 by Jan. 12.  Fox Nebraska

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Due to recent layoffs, the American Job Center is inviting Lincoln employers with job openings to join its worker relocation program designed to help 40 displaced workers with truck rentals, hotel stays, and packing supplies after job offers in Lancaster and Saunders counties.  KOLN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Long-time season ticket holder Jody Cameron said she feels bittersweet after the reseating system kept her out of playoff games despite renewing tickets. The process – rewarding higher donations – will finish by June-July and may limit fan access though she holds final four tickets if Nebraska qualifies.  Nebraska Now
  • Nebraska offensive lineman Rocco Spindler will miss the bowl game due to season-ending finger surgery, head coach Matt Rhule said. The senior, who started every game at right guard this season, will focus on recovery for a potential NFL combine.  Nebraska Now
  • On Wednesday, ten future Nebraska football players signed to begin the early signing period running Dec. 3–5; linebacker Jase Reynolds was the only in-state recruit among the 2026 class.  KNOP
  • On Wednesday, ESPN reported that Terence 'Bud' Crawford (an Omaha native) was stripped of his World Boxing Council super-middleweight title for failing to pay sanctioning fees, and the WBC will now schedule a fight between Hamzah Sheeraz and Christian Mbilli for the vacant belt.  Nebraska Now
