- ➤ The Center for People’s Toyland event distributed gifts in green Santa bags to 730 Lincoln children this Christmas (helping families celebrate the holiday) as volunteers wrapped and prepared presents ahead of the season. KOLN
- ➤ Lincoln High School senior Lea Brock organized a food drive and collected nearly 2,000 food items in 12 days to help support the Center for People’s Pantry as demand grows (showing local giving). KOLN

- ➤ Canteen District held a last call for gifts on Christmas Eve as NP Ice announced its holiday season hours to support busy shoppers in Lincoln. KNOP
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Santa Claus visited Super Suds Car Wash on Christmas Eve to share smiles and remind locals that the season is about giving and togetherness. Organizers said the event boosted community holiday spirit. KNOP
- ➤ Lincoln’s Cristo Rey Catholic Church has set a 24-foot nativity scene with LED lights, water features (and a night-day cycle) that brings 22 years of tradition to the community. It is free and open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Jan. 11. KOLN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting today, Lincoln is offering drop-off sites where residents can dispose of Christmas trees and holiday lights at designated locations. KNOP
- ➤ The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has proposed changes to the Medicaid waiver that would cut weekly caregiver hours from 112 to 70 and cap paid in-home hours at 40 (a move that local families fear will reduce essential care), prompting residents to submit comments. - ➤ Starting today, Lincoln offers six drop-off sites for residents to dispose of decorated Christmas trees until Jan. 19; Boy Scout Troop 8 will pick up trees on select dates, and the Holiday Lights Drive runs until Jan. 10 at designated spots. KOLN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ AAA launched its Tow to Go program on Wednesday to offer free, confidential rides and vehicle tows — serving within a 10 mile radius — to help impaired drivers avoid dangerous road returns during the holidays. The service ends at 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2. KNOP
