- ➤ A red magnolia tree was planted at Nebraska Wesleyan University to honor former track athlete Eric Smoyer, who died from cancer on April 22, 2024. Family and friends gathered on Saturday, April 26, 2025, to dedicate the tree at a spot between the indoor track and outdoor track—places where he spent much time as a student athlete. - ➤ On Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Nebraska’s Ty Robinson with the 111th pick in the NFL Draft’s fourth round. The 6-foot-5 defensive tackle—who set a Nebraska record by playing 60 games and recorded 48 tackles in 2024 while running a 4.83-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine—will join his former teammate Cam Jurgens in Philadelphia.
